Kathryn Lowdon
Kathryn is one of the most sought-after voice coaches in the UK. With over twelve years experience teaching hundreds of singers, she is a thriving force within the music industry.
Kathryn is certified in Speech Level Singing, The Institute for Vocal Advancement and Profty. She is now mentored by world renowned Master Teacher of Voice, Greg Enriquez from Las Vegas who taught Celine Dion, Britney Spears and Courtney Love to name a few. He is protege to Seth Riggs who famously taught Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder. Kathryn is from a lineage of world class vocal coaches and she was one of three voice teachers world-wide to be invited into Greg Enriquez’ Mastermind group in 2021 which was a huge accomplishment . She continues to develop and grow under his wing until this present day.
She herself has coached artists who are household names and prides herself of supporting North East talent such as Sam Fender whom she was hired to prepare for his current level of success in the music industry today. He has now achieved Brit Awards, 2 number one UK albums and a major record deal. Kathryn has also coached primetime CBBC TV and radio presenter Tilly Lockey who went on to win CBBC’s talent competition Got What it Takes in the final of the show and perform at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
Additionally, she has worked nationally and prepared artists for performances such as The Graham Norton Show, The Jools Holland Show, Blue Peter, Got What it Takes, The Voice Kids, Radio One’s Big Weekend, Glastonbury Festival and Greece Has Got Talent.
Her ‘can do’ attitude lead her to be invited to be UK Ambassador for international training organisation, Profty where she supervises the continued professional development of voice teachers and mentors them from her studio in Newcastle city centre. In 2023, she was also invited to be part of Durham University’s approved teachers list where she coaches music students on their undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
With a background in Psychotherapy, Kathryn is skilled in confidence building, dealing with performance nerves and mindset coaching enabling her clients to get the very best results and helping them to live fulfilling lives.
She is a professional singer in her own right and is currently recording her solo album. She has a full DBS check, MU membership and Child Protection in Music Training.
In 2023, she is launching Kathryn’s Soul Choir throughout the North East to bring the local community together through our soulful music heritage.
Joseph Bell
With a degree in Popular Music and a Qualified Primary Teacher, Joseph offers a unique learning experience for singers wanting to learn the way of their voice. Whether you are looking to improve your voice for karaoke nights out, wanting to sing professionally on stage or you are simply looking for a teacher to start your child off on their singing expedition. Joseph provides a fun, enthusiastic and safe learning environment for you to explore the vocal journey you desire to take.
He has enrolled as a student with with Profty where he continues to be mentored by Master Voice Teacher, Greg Enriquez, Rhonda Carlson and Monique Thomas. Joseph has been working with Kathryn Lowdon Vocal Studios to ensure the delivery of quality vocal technique. Aiming to train voices in their natural way, enabling singing from the top of your range to the bottom, with no breaks or changes in quality. Ensuring no damage is done to the voice Joseph looks at air flow, larynx position and the muscles involved in this process to help guarantee your voice perfectly works every time. The process of finding your natural singing voice is exciting, Joseph will provide you with the ability to pick from your own bespoke toolkit of vocal tools, whether that be dynamics, flexibility or resonance.
With studies in popular and classical singing, Joseph has a diverse background in styles and genres and the. With BA hons, QTS and full DBS checks, Joseph is excited to meet you and your voice.
Oliver Smith
Whether you are a complete beginner, a karaoke singer, performing with your band or looking for a singing teacher for your child, Oliver is the singing teacher for you.
As someone who has had 125+ hours of vocal training with Kathryn, Oliver’s firsthand experience in developing and shifting his voice makes him adept at passing on this knowledge and skill to future students. On top of that, his study in performance technique thanks to Rhonda Carlson, has taught him how to capture the emotion of songs, how to connect with the audience and how to make songs visually pop on stage through movement.
He has continually put these skills into practice when gigging in the North-East music scene. Oliver who started his own music business under his stage name ‘George Haywood’ in which he uses for gigs around the North-East of England. In 2019, Oliver graduated from Newcastle University with a BA Honours in English Language; his linguistic study and love-of-language continues to inspire his songwriting and vocal technique which continues to do so to this day.
Oliver has a Level 3 Learning and Support Assistant qualification and has worked in schools for the past year. This has given him experience in how to explain complex concepts to those who are unfamiliar with a topic.
He is excited to expand his vocal technique and pedagogy through studying his Singing Teacher Development course Profty where he is going taught by world class Master Teachers Greg Enriquez and Rhonda Carlson from Las Vegas and Monique Thomas from Paris. Oliver connotes to be mentored and supervised by Kathryn at her studio in Newcastle as his education develops and grows.
He has MU membership, Safeguarding Children in Music Certificate and an Enhanced DBS Check.
